Introduction to Facial Aesthetic Treatments

Date:

Our skin changes condition depending on our environment, lifestyle, and the natural process of aging. We have the tendency to have lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tones, and lose our skin’s volume and elasticity when we get older. Thankfully, facial aesthetic treatment is available for us to have younger-looking skin. In this article, we’ll be discussing what facial aesthetic treatment is and what we can expect during the process.

Facial aesthetic treatment

Facial aesthetic treatments are non-surgical and non-invasive procedures that are often used to improve facial features, reduce expression lines(such as wrinkles), and the quality of the skin. Facial aesthetic treatments are usually described in many kinds of forms such as age spots treatment, botox, and anti-wrinkle injection. These treatments are proven to be safe and very effective. Other facial aesthetic treatments include fillers to increase the volume of the skin in certain areas and define specific facial features.

How do I make sure it’s safe?

The most important part of facial aesthetic treatment is making sure that these procedures are done by professionals. Ensure that the practitioner has experience in these treatments and is qualified to do these procedures. Keep in mind that you should also observe the practitioner’s workspace if it is tidy, organized, and in a safe environment(such as being in a health care establishment).

What to expect on your first appointment

In your first appointment, you will be asked to answer a series of questions related to your medical history. Then you may discuss your concerns with the practitioner, the practitioner will do an assessment of your skin, discuss your skincare procedure and past experiences with facial aesthetic treatments. After the assessment, the practitioner will discuss what his/her observations are and suggest a treatment that will be the most suitable for your concerns and the cost of it. They will provide a written plan for your treatment after the overall consultation.

What to expect during the treatment appointment

After signing and agreeing to the treatment they suggested, the practitioner will go through your medical history again and make sure that you willingly agree with the written plan and proceed with the treatment. In some cases, the practitioner may need to apply a small amount of topical or injectable local anesthetic for you to be more comfortable while in the process. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once the procedure is complete, the practitioner will be discussing what to do and what to avoid after the appointment. After the treatment, the practitioner might call you for a follow-up appointment to see the improvement of your skin after the treatment.

Are there any risks in facial aesthetic treatments?

Facial aesthetic treatments are safe when done properly by a trusted professional. During the consultation, the practitioner will be discussing the possible risks with the treatment suggested for you. Common risks include swelling, infection, bruising, and allergic reactions. It is perfectly normal to have a little bit of tenderness and swelling in the first 24 hours after the treatment. Avoiding alcohol, coffee, and direct sunlight is also recommended by most practitioners.
