Many of us may still struggle to understand how this happened, but here’s the truth – we’re now well into 2024. And for interior design enthusiasts, it means one thing – new trends. Typically, bathrooms don’t change all that much, especially ever since that big shift towards these spa-inspired spaces has happened. Sanctuaries of relaxation, if you will. But now we’ve got some exciting news. Bathrooms are getting a revamp. Minimalism and natural materials are still a big part of it. That’s not going anywhere. But there’s finally more. Much more.
Patterns & Colours
Minimalism has certain requirements in order to work well in any space. It’s a philosophy reflected in every piece. Colours are just a background for some more eye-catching, yet still simple pieces, typically made from natural materials. Think wood and stone. But now, patterned tiles are apparently taking the world of interior design by storm. A perfect choice for a feature wall (another big hit) or just a more adventurous look for your bathroom floors. There’s finally some space for a splash of colour, with interesting and original patterns. And that goes for both smaller and larger tiles.
Bathroom Art
Forget everything you thought you knew about bathroom accessories. Forget functionality and simplicity. It’s not just a natural bath mat, a bamboo set and eco towels. This whole thing has just become much more exciting. Ever thought about hanging a big painting in there? Well, now you can. It’s meant to be a big trend, which means the market is also going to answer that demand, producing art pieces designed specifically for bathroom spaces. Up to this point, maybe some small paintings were featured in rustic bathrooms, adding a bit of a quaint charm. Well, not anymore. We’re talking about some truly impressively-sized pieces. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but hey – we’ve got some new options.
Smart Solutions
Bathroom design is also slowly entering the realm of smart solutions. Or, perhaps, the other way around. Whichever way we look at it, we can expect more hi-tech gear designed for bathroom spaces in the upcoming months and, most likely, years. But what exactly? LED-lit mirrors, built-in speakers to listen to some music and special storage units with USB ports. Mood lighting is getting more and more recognition everywhere, so it was only a matter of time before it entered bathroom design as well. So far, under-cabinet and mirror lights. But we’ll see what the future holds.
No More Glass Ceilings
Well, not ceilings. Walls. These cube-shaped showers have been all the rage for the past few decades now. It would seem they’re untouchable. The kind of trend that’s not going anywhere. But it is. Not entirely, though. No-door models with curbless transitions are going to take over. So, glass stays, but in a different form. We’ve also seen a lot of frosted glass in recent years, but now crystal is going to be a top choice for bathrooms. It’s a step up and an improved version, offering a more streamlined and clean design.
Don’t Let Trends Take Over
While it’s not a bad idea to try something new every now and then, there’s no reason to go overboard, chasing every single trend out there. We like what we like, so sure – get out there and get some inspiration, but don’t chase every shiny thing you see in interior design. Stick to your guns and play strengths. That’s how you’ll see the best results without breaking the bank. It’s that simple.
