How to Choose the Best Educational Toy Store for Your Child
If your children are anything like mine, chances are they are drawn to everything they see advertised on TV. Barbie house? Love you. Flubbed? Do you need it? Singing troll? It is a must.
However, you are not an atm. There is only a certain amount of money available, and you need to make sure that you select the most suitable educational toy store. The right toys will help teach your child and will stay put after the few times they play. Do you need a little help? Here are some tips for choosing the best educational toy store your child will enjoy.

Rethink Electronics
Your child will learn a lot about electronics. I wrote in my last post that I would love for my kids to be able to code. It’s not easy to do that when you need access to a computer, tablet, or another device.
However, I would also like my children to learn to read. And be able to answer basic math equations. Social skills. It’s easy to see: I’d like well-rounded kids who aren’t hooked on electronics all the time.
Children can learn very well using low-tech toys. Contrary to what TV commercials might lead you to believe, plenty of educational toys on the market don’t require batteries.
One of my best stores for children’s educational toys is Bilibo. It is nothing more than an unusually shaped polymer “bowl” about a foot and a half in diameter. We originally bought it for my daughter when she was only one year old. She is now three years old and has been used as a hull, a sled, and an inflatable boat.

Consider finger puppets for younger children. Toddlers and babies love soft kid toys on their fingers. They are also great for establishing the foundation of communication in young children.
A simple senior shotgun is a learning experience. Don’t you understand how? Slingshot shooting is all about geometry and physics. Hi guys! Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with a low-tech toy.
Encourage Outdoor Play
There is much that children can learn in the world. There are bugs everywhere, mother! But there are rainbows out there, dad! There are many ways to incorporate education into your child’s outdoor activities. Since 2001 I have bought bugs online. Sound crazy? You are not! Online websites allow you to buy caterpillars that turn into butterflies.
Eggs that hatch into praying mantises or ladybugs. My kids have a wealth of knowledge from growing (and releasing) bugs. If you decide to go this route, make sure the insects are native to the area you live in.
Not a fan of critters? There are alternatives. Get your kids involved in almost any sport. Baseball, hockey, and soccer can help you teach your kids about physical physics, social skills, and much more. While also getting their wiggles!

Gardening. Go to the grocery store and let them collect seeds. Tell them about “planting zones”: you don’t want to plant avocados in Connecticut. Release them in the garden area. They can choose from a variety of pint-sized yard toys.
Keep Toys Age-Appropriate
It is not appropriate to give marbles to a newborn. Also, you wouldn’t offer an eight-year-old. This is everyday wisdom. If you are selecting games for children to learn, choose age-appropriate toys for your child.

The baby is developing five senses. Toys with different colors are ideal, as are toys that create sound when touched. (Think of the sound of rattles or musical instruments.) However, keep in mind that they also love to taste. Make certain they do not give a choking risk.
Young children are constantly on the move. Children cannot settle from the age of one to three years. Choose “action toys” such as bubble lawnmowers or ride-on toys. Playing indoors with non-toxic art supplies is the best way to learn about the world.
