Virginia Wade is a former world no. 2 and a three-time Grand Slam champion. She turned professional in 1968 and won her first Grand Slam title at the 1968 US Open. She won 55 singles titles in her career and was also highly accomplished in doubles. She won every Grand Slam title but the Wimbledon title in 1973 and rose to the top of the world rankings in 1973.
Harriet Dart
Dart was born in 1996 and has risen through the ranks in recent years to become one of the top British tennis players. She first entered the WTA top 100 in March 2022 and has since achieved a career-high singles ranking of 99. The 25-year-old also reached the final of the mixed doubles at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
Listed second in the British women’s rankings, Harriet Dart has a number of accolades to her name. Most recently, she reached her first WTA quarter-final in the Nottingham Open. She has also represented Great Britain in the Fed Cup, where she has a 2-2 record. Heather Watson
The right-handed Heather Watson has been ranked as one of the top five British tennis stars in recent years. She is often compared to Martina Hingis, while her backhand style is reminiscent of the play of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. In late July, Watson was one of the participants at the Battle of the Brits Team Tennis in London, where she won two singles matches and teamed up with Jamie Murray to win a mixed doubles match.
The 21-year-old has also won the UK Open and the Wimbledon singles title. However, she has mixed results on grass courts. In the 2011 Wimbledon Open, she played Mathilde Johansson and won the first set but suffered an arm injury during the second. In the Wimbledon final, Watson lost to Viktoria Golubic in three sets. The following year, she played in the qualifying for the Australian Open, where she lost to eventual champion Victoria Azarenka.
Emma raducanu family
The Romanian tennis player Emma Raducanu is a member of the Raducanu family. Her mother is Chinese, and her father is Romanian. She was born in Toronto, Canada, but her family moved to the United Kingdom when she was two. At the age of five, she began playing tennis at the Bromley Tennis Academy. Her parents, who are both financial executives, encouraged their daughter to try different sports and hobbies.
At the age of six, Raducanu was already playing competitive tennis. She won the under-eight tournament at her local tennis center and went on to win numerous junior and youth titles. She also won the Kent County Closed Championships in 2010. The Romanian tennis player’s success on the national stage continued, with her placing fifth at the Orange Bowl event in Miami in 2013. That year, she won her first international tournament, claiming the Women’s Twenty-five in Paris.
Sonay Kartal
Sonay Kartal, born in Brighton in 2001, is a professional tennis player from the United Kingdom. She has achieved career highs in both the doubles and singles categories and is one of the top five British players. Since returning from injury, Kartal has been playing some of the best tennis of her career. She has won six ITF singles titles.
Kartal started playing the sport at the age of six and is still a member of the Pavillion & Avenue Tennis Club. She was initially so scared to play that she fell on the court to meet her coach. However, she was persuaded to return and she and coach Julie Hobbs have been inseparable ever since.
