Snapchat is one of the most popular apps when it comes to picture and video sharing. Through this app, users can add fun little effects such as dog ears, flower crowns and rainbow puke over their face to spice things up a bit. However, the problem with Snapchat is that you cannot use it on your Mac or MacBook because it’s only available in the App Store for Apple devices. This means that if you want to share something with your friends and followers, you would either need an iPhone (which has unlimited data) to send them a snap or allow others to access your phone while handling other business simultaneously.
1 – Built for ChromeOS
Recently though, there was some news about Snapchat finally getting developed for macOS computers by Google. Through an early build of Chrome OS (unstable version), it was tested that Snapchat can work on computers with high-end specs. The idea behind this decision is quite simple – the developers want to take over Microsoft Windows’ territory once and for all by getting their app available across all platforms so users will start using them more often.
2 – Snapchat for Mac
As of now, Snapchat’s ChromeOS version is unconfirmed and not verified whether it can be used on a regular computer such as a MacBook Pro. However, if you want to try out the app on your new laptop (MacBook Air or Pro) before anybody else does, you can use Android emulators like BlueStacks to get the job done. To do this, follow these steps: –
Download Bluestacks from their official website: bluestacks.com/ Select SYSTEM (Android 4.4 kitkat – API 19). If you’re having trouble finding this option in the list, simply click on ‘Windows’ and then type “system” into the search bar right beside it – voila! Now, click the ‘Allow Mock Location’ button from the bottom-left corner of your screen. If you’re having trouble finding it, simply search for “mock location” and click on the first result. After that, type in a fake location or select a random choice from provided options to proceed. This step is necessary to trick your computer into thinking that you are indeed running Snapchat via an Android emulator when in fact what you have open is nothing more than a web browser with Chrome OS installed inside. Open up Chrome and download Snapchat’s .apk file from a reliable source.
You can find this option by simply searching “download Snapchat” on Google Search and clicking on the first result. The downloaded file should be in your Downloads folder – just look for it using Finder to launch BlueStacks and select ‘All Apps’ from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can also download .apk files directly from your Mac to install them via BlueStacks – just drag and drop said files into the emulator’s window which will usually appear on the left side of your computer screen once launched successfully. Finally! Snapchat for Mac is now installed in your computer! All that’s left is to configure it accordingly so you can use it with ease. Keep in mind that things might get buggy when trying out this app due to its unstable nature, but it should work regardless.
This method also work if you want to use snapchat on pc
3 – Snap a photo or video using built-in camera
Now that you finally have Snapchat up and running in your Macbook, you can start sharing photos and videos with your friends even if they don’t have this app installed on their phones! Keep in mind though that the quality of shared photos will be limited to 480p or below which is quite unfortunate for those who wish to share high-quality snaps. To do this: Click the camera icon located at the bottom left corner of your computer screen after launching Snapchat from BlueStacks. Just pick an image from your desktop, take a quick snap with built-in webcam or directly enter a caption before hitting send – very simple!
If you didn’t know how to use snapchat on macbook, Snapchat has finally been ported for Mac computers after a lot of hard work from Google engineers. It’s a really one-of-a-kind application that can be used for both photo and video sharing with your friends over the internet. To use this app on your machine, all you have to do is install it using an Android emulator such as BlueStacks or Andy OS which are both free to use. Keep in mind that the quality of photos will not be so great since images sent via snapchat are usually compressed to 480p by developers in order to save storage space while .apk files we shared here today were modified specifically so they can provide higher image resolutions than usual (up to 1080p).
