Ever since Danial Craig made known that he would not be continuing his role as James Bond 007, the British MI7 agent, speculations have been made about who would be the next James Bond. Many names have been put forward by industry experts and fans alike.
Now Pierce Brosnan who previously played the titular character himself has put forward the name Cillian Murphy. Hollywood now 70 years old was quoted saying “Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service” (Moorman, 2024).
Cillian Murphy’s star has been on the rise since playing the main Protagonist in the British TV series Peaky Blinders. But he truly reached the peak of his fame with the portrayal of American scientist J. Oppenheimer the father of the nuclear bomb in the biopic Oppenheimer.
The Hollywood hit is a fan favorite and is set to win many Oscars in the upcoming event where it has been nominated for 13 Oscars. Now this stamp of approval by Pierce Brosnan will go a long for Cillian if wants to be a contender for the role of James Bond.
But that is not to say things will be easy for him, as he faces stiff competition in the form of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and even Ana de Armas and Pheobe Waller-Bridge.
