CBD: What is it?
Cannabis is a well-known natural treatment for many different ailments. This chemical compound, also known as CBD, is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, Cannabis sativa. May relieve pain
Scientists recently discovered that certain components of cannabis, including CBD, relieve pain. Support for the FDA’s decision comes from three studies that were carefully vetted. A total of 516 patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome received Epidiolex in these trials. Symptoms of PTSD can be reduced
As part of a small study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine in 2018, 11 people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) received CBD along with routine psychiatric care for eight weeks in an outpatient mental health clinic. PTSD symptoms decreased in 10 out of 11 individuals. CBD was generally well tolerated, the authors note.
There have been four other human studies between 2012 and 2016, all of which show CBD reduced PTSD symptoms, although some included THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in cannabis. The effect of THC and CBD working together is called an “entourage effect,” which allows each molecule’s benefits and potency to complement each other. The same dose of THC and CBD together will temper the effects of THC, while just a little THC with more CBD will enhance the effects of CBD.
Reduced diabetic complications
In experiments on human cells, it has been found that CBD reduces the effects of high glucose on other cells in the body, which typically triggers the development of diabetes and various complications. CBD may have significant benefits when used in patients with diabetes, diabetic complications and plaque buildup in artery walls, according to researchers.
Researchers studied 13 patients with type 2 diabetes who did not take insulin and were given CBD. There are varying results from studies examining cannabis and cannabinoids like CBD’s effects on cancer-related nausea, pain, and decreased appetite.
Despite CBD’s potential benefits for some cancer patients, more research is needed to determine whether CBD should be used more frequently to manage cancer symptoms.

CBD is linked to several health benefits for the heart and circulatory system, such as lower blood pressure, reduced stroke, heart attack, and metabolic syndrome risks. CBD has been demonstrated to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in preclinical and clinical studies. They may provide significant neuroprotection or protection against a variety of pathological conditions.
Researchers believe CBD may provide benefits against Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and multiple sclerosis in preclinical studies. The study also tested for Huntington’s disease and cerebral ischemia, but no significant positive results were found. It will take further clinical studies to confirm CBD’s benefits when used to treat these disorders.
