Computer Glitches

Today many companies are looking for one thing; streamlining. “DevOps” (dev + ops) is a growing trend to accomplish this, integrating the work of programmers and system administrators like never before. The idea is that no matter how large-scale or small an organization’s infrastructure needs, everyone can work together as partners rather than separate departments.

The need for Salesforce devops certification professionals has increased certification programs. Other certifications out there may be good stand-alone endorsements, like the AWS Certified Solutions Architect, but most professionals will benefit from a DevOps-specific program.

Of course, certain personalities will do well with this type of work and excel without the need for certification. Still, for those with more common job titles such as Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, or Web Developer, it can give them a real edge.

If you’re reading this article on a computer, you’ve probably heard the term “DevOps” (a portmanteau of ‘development’ and ‘operations’) being thrown around. In recent years there has been an increasing need for it in the tech scene, with small-businesses trying to keep up with larger organizations which have their own IT professionals who can manage relations between development teams and servers/networks.

What is DevOps?

But what is DevOps? As defined by Techopedia , it’s a “concept used to define a strategy where development teams must work very closely with IT operations. The point of the DevOps movement is to try and ensure that these departments do not fall into a rift where neither side understands how their work impacts

Right now, there are two leading players in the certification game. The first is the Linux Foundation with their Certified System Administrator program. People who have this credential are called ‘LFCS,’ which can be an issue as no one wants their name to be an acronym! It costs $300 to take and then another $100 for each attempt after that if you do not pass on the first try.

The other choice is the Open Technology Institute’s Certified DevOps Engineer or DevOps Certification Program (CDP). This program will run you about $500 but has a 100% money-back guarantee if you don’t like it (terms and conditions apply). It is cheaper than LFCS due to lack of brand name, or they want to get the message out.

The Linux Foundation’s program covers a range of topics such as:

– System Architecture and Configuration –

– Networking Fundamentals

– Essential File Systems –

– Permissions Administration and User Interfaces –

It is also based on CentOS, which many DevOps professionals will find themselves running into in the field, making it an ideal choice for certification (though I’m sure Ubuntu fans would disagree!). The OIT DevOps certification program does not cover as much material but has more depth in specific areas like Docker. It also includes hands on lab examples and assignments. There are certain sections where you can show your knowledge by either choosing multiple choice, fill in the blank, or “click to proceed” type questions.

One of the cool things about the OIT program is that they have a public leaderboard that shows how well everyone performs and who gets certified first. This gives it a competitive edge over LFCS as you can use their site to track your progress and see how well you are doing compared to others taking the test simultaneously.

Both programs offer great value for money and will be beneficial for those working within the DevOps space now or those thinking of getting into it in the future. The big problem here might be getting people interested in this type of work as IT is a broad field with many differences.

If you’re planning to take your first steps in the world of DevOps and want to get a certification, but you don’t know what skills are required to pass the exam successfully, we would like to help.

The basis for success in passing any IT exams is knowing all the possibilities and dynamics of the subject and having practiced with previous questions similar in style to those that may be asked in an interview.

For this reason, when preparing for a certification exam, it’s worth focusing on several primary areas:

Prior knowledge and hands-on experience Practice tests and mock interviews Logical thinking and problem-solving Ability to analyze information presented by an interviewer Analysing real-life examples

These are the basic skills you need to have at your disposal if you want to pass the foundation-level certification exams in DevOps successfully.

You will also need additional knowledge of specific technologies depending on the certification exam you are preparing for. If you are unsure which type of questions you’ll be asked, it’s best to focus on theoretical content first – analyze all key areas and terminology and their meaning in context. Make a list of all the “DevOps” topics and memorize them. After this, we recommend practicing with practice tests and mock interviews so that the information is fixed in your mind and becomes part of your day-to-day activities, and can be applied immediately when needed. This will help you to get your foot in the door for an interview.

The following diagram shows the areas of knowledge required for specific foundation level certification exams:

Suppose you are planning to prepare for higher-level exams. In that case, you will need a much broader knowledge base that includes theoretical concepts and practical experience of DevOps roles within specific software development teams.

To sum up, it’s worth remembering that when preparing for any IT certification exam, hands-on experience is key – this ensures that you have all the necessary tools available in your toolbox. You need to practice regularly, look at examples, and learn to apply this information in your daily work. This will help you succeed in DevOps certifications.

Do you have any additional ideas on what might help a future DevOps candidate pass the exam successfully?

If you’re preparing for one of the foundation-level certification exams in DevOps, we would like to recommend that you take advantage of training. These are explicitly designed to help future IT professionals succeed in their careers by understanding how various technologies work and can be applied.  In the long term, this will help you get a better position and more money.

To offer training that is of real benefit, experts have carefully analysed all the leading certification exams in devops from different vendors and created a selection of courses that give a broad theoretical background on specific technologies used in devops along with hands-on experience on how to implement these technologies successfully.
